WTFF5 – International Competition Extraworks

Watna

On a cargo boat, two Dutch brothers in their sixties. Faces and bodies marked by a whole life spent travelling on the Rhein, the Main, the Danube. Most of the time Harrie and Leon are alone in their daily routine, while outside the landscape flows restlessly away. There’s no day off, for such an old and slow boat the earnings on the transportation of raw materials is barely sufficient to cover the costs of the trip.

Directors’ bio-filmography
Lorenzo Casali (1980) and Micol Roubini (1982) started to work together in 2010. Through installation, sound, video and photography, their work offers a critical and poetic reading of the landscape. Lorenzo teaches photography at Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. Micol co-founded the production company L’Altauro, and in 2019 presented her first feature film La strada per le montagne in competition at Cinéma du Réel Festival.
