Overwork

Synopsis Based on the re-editing of 16mm educational films produced between the 1970s and the 1990s by the Employment Agency of the Federal Republic of Germany, with the aim of representing various professions, Overwork amplifies repetitive actions and processes to bring to the surface underlying dimensions of work, where boredom and violence are in constant tension, up to the point of exhaustion.

Director’s bio-filmography Céline Berger (1973) lives and works in Cologne. She worked as an engineer, then studied at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and was an artist in residence at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam. She directed Since We Are Here (2019), with Mercedes Azpilicueta and Jacco van Uden, in competition at WTFF5, and Cutting Edges (2021), in competition at WTFF6. Overwork won the Prize of the NRW in Oberhausen and the Best Experimental Film at the German Critics Association Awards.
